Guinea Confidential: April

Guinea's Monthly Lifestyle Blog

April

Dare I say it, is false spring finally behind us? Are we now in fact past, as Charles Dicken's once said, "those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade." Can we now in fact look forward to true warmth and sunshine?

We here at Guinea HQ we are a resounding, Yes! The Winter wardrobe is away and we are optimistic for the glorious weather ahead, and there is so much to look forward to this month, so read on to hear what we are excited about in this month's Guinea Confidential.

Rest, Read, Relax

Rowan in our order fulfilment team has recommended for this month's Guinea Confidential, The Secrets of Flowers by Sally Page.

This is apparently a gentle read which surrounds the themes of loss and grief but is ultimately heart warming and inspiring.

Following the story of florist Emma, who one year on from her husband's death has rather withdrawn from life, that is until she attends a talk on the Titanic, which ignites a quest to discover who arranged the flowers on board.

This sounds the ideal read for spring with all these floral vibes!

Seasonally Scrummy

Now, for something a little bit different from our Guinea Confidential Seasonally Scrummy.

Easter is all about sweet treats - especially if you are rewarding yourself for making it all the way through Lent and your promise to give up chocolate! However, it is also a time for fun activates - so why not combine the two!

So whether you have children, grandchildren or you just love baking, why not dig out your favourite biscuit recipe and have a go at icing some fun Easter and spring themed biscuits. You can be as elaborate or as simple as you like, from flowers, to rabbits, to eggs and chicks why should biscuit decorating be relegated to Christmas?

Mirror, Mirror

Do you have a signature perfume you wear all year round, or does your perfume of choice change with your mood or the season?

Well if you are looking to replace your more heavy wintery scents with something fresh and floral, why not try Highgrove's new fragrance.

Penhaligon in collaboration with The King's Foundation has created an eau de parfum Highgrove Bouquet, which is inspired by the summer gardens at Highgrove.

With top and middle floral notes of geranium, lavender, hyacinth and mimosa, and base notes such as cedarwood and  musk, here at Guinea Confidential we think this scent sounds like the perfect summer fragrance!

A film which has a lot of promise is Mr. Burton, a biographical drama about the early life of the Welsh actor Richard Burton.

Starring Toby Jones - when has he ever given a bad performance? And Lesley Manville, who is always understatedly amazing, this should be an absorbing watch.

#Guineaglam

We are absolutely loving our Hampton Combat Jacket. Fabulously versatile, this is the perfect spring jacket, as it is effortlessly glam.

With touches of sequin embellishment at the collar and cuffs, this heavy weight cotton combat, is ideal for unpredictable weather with cool spells and light showers. It also features a draw-drawstring to nip in the waist to create a flattering silhouette.

Styled here with our Eva cotton blouse and tiger print belt, this is the perfect jacket to have fun accessorising with!

We hope you enjoyed this month's Guinea Confidential
