Guinea Confidential: July

Guinea's Monthly lifestyle blog

July

What a busy month June has been for the Guinea London team! We finished off the month with a return to The Royal Norfolk Show and it was lovely to meet so many of our lovely customers old and new. We're next out and about at The Great Yorkshire show so come and find us on Avenue T Stand 367 - we'd love to say hello.

If however you are staying closer to home, and want ten minutes just to yourself to unwind, all our VIPs get an exclusive first look at Guinea Confidential, where the Guinea team share with you our recommendations for the month.

So sit back, get comfy and indulge in some much needed me time.

Guinea London's Must See, Must Do

Our must see, must do recommendation comes from our Guinea Team Blogger, Emma, who was lucky enough to visit the Crown to Couture exhibition at Kensington Palace. From historic gowns to met gala houte couture, you will be blown away by the exquisite attention to detail. It runs until October and is well worth a visit!

You can read more about the exhibition in our specially dedicated blog to the event.

Rest, Read, Relax

When Judie, our Creative Director heard that Rob Rinder had published a book, using his background in the courtroom for the plot, she didn't ask any more questions. Two words. Purchase complete. The Trial by Rob Rinder has been garnering some extremely positive reviews and while Judie is not one for giving us any spoilers, no matter how much we beg, all she will say is that it is a page turner.

If crime is not your cup of tea, how about a bit of escapism in the Loire Valley? A Perfect Vintage by Chelsea Fagan, has all the components of a perfect summer read. A romance set against a backdrop of the French countryside, we cannot wait to pop this in our bag as a beach read, or curl up in our favourite chair with a glass of wine, purely to fully immerse ourselves in the experience you understand, it would be rude not to…

Popcorn Picks

Sometimes you just crave a night in, with your feet up, and your favourite programme or film, and this month the Guinea team will be watching the new series Bake off: The Professionals maybe even with a Laduree macaron or two, just to get into the spirit of things.

And if the macarons and patisserie ignite a Parisian spark in you, and you are looking for something to binge, why not check out Emily in Paris for some fun, light-hearted binge watching with fabulous fashion, or The Parisian Agency  a reality series, following a family's luxury property business in France. Both available now on Netflix.

Seasonally Scrummy

What is more quintessentially British and nostalgic than a trifle. Maybe regarded as a tad retro by some, but I think we can all agree, they are just glorious. We cannot resist and were recommended this Deliah Smith recipe for her  summer trifle with raspberries and raspberry puree by Charlotte, our Marketing Assistant.

Super simple to follow and easily adaptable to take advantage of whatever seasonable fruit is available. Even better if it is fruit fresh from your own garden.

Mirror, Mirror

Perfect for a weekend away or holiday, the Wild Foraged Skincare Essentials from the Rhug Estate, mean your skincare routine need not slip while you are on your travels. It smells divine and really nourishes stressed out skin.

Penhaligon's ode to the sun, Solaris, couldn't evoke summer more if it tried, not with all this glorious weather we've been having. With top notes of blackcurrent, heart notes of ylang ylang, and base notes of cedar wood, treat yourself for a new scent for the summer season.
